We can do it with your help!
Why build a new facility?
Shelters everywhere are full, including Regional. We’re currently working out of an 8 kennel facility (our “Annex”), with the ability to have 6 additional dogs in collapsible crates in our isolation ward/office. Because of our size and our contractual obligation to the City of Gloversville, we are unable to take surrenders from people within the community who are unable to successfully re-home their dogs. We are also unable to take in cats, as we do not have the space to do so.
Once completed, our new facility will include:
- separate dog and cat rooms, ideally with radiant heat flooring
- accommodations for large animals
- an on premise surgical room to offer low-cost spay and neuter programs
- a boarding facility
- a grooming area
- visiting rooms for families to meet their newest furry additions
- a lobby with a gift shop
- a memorial garden and a dog walk (with the bricks from our fundraising campaign! Want a brick? You can purchase one here!!)
But first things first: we want to start by putting in our new kennels. This will allow us to expand our services to this community – we will be better able to help stray and unclaimed dogs be reunited with their owners or be adopted into new loving homes.
What needs to be done?
The land in the Town of Johnstown, NY is currently being graded and planned out with sewer, power, and water lines. We are in the process of having multi-phase blueprints drawn up, so we can begin building our kennels as soon as we have the funds for it. Once planning is completed and we get the okay from the Fulton County planning board, we will be bidding for and starting construction.
What will happen to the Annex when the new facility is complete?
The Annex will continue to run as it always has, allowing us to directly assist the citizens of Gloversville find their dogs after they’ve gone on a grand adventure! The new facility is not a replacement to the Annex, but a complimentary, and larger, facility.
How can I help?
There are many ways to help!
Donate! ****We need funds to build! Buy a brick!**** No donation is too small! Every cent counts, and is greatly appreciated!!
Are you a contractor? Share your skill! We would appreciate your expertise! Contact us!
Send some supplies our way! If you think we need it, we can use it! Contact us!
How much do you need?
To begin Phase One of building, we will require $100,000 in funding, which we will be securing with both grants and donations. To have a completed facility, we believe it will cost us between $500,000 and $600,000.
How does this brick thing work?
These laser-engraved bricks are a wonderful way to honor a cherished pet or loved one, and will last a lifetime. We are offering bricks in three different sizes with three different set donation amounts: 4×8 for $100, 8×8 for $200, and 12×12 for $400. Prices include text and optional artwork – you can use either the clipart provided or upload your own photo. All proceeds from the brick will go into Regional’s Building Fund, and the purchased brick will be used to create a memorial dog walk at the new facility on Maple Ave. in Johnstown, NY. If you would like to commemorate your brick purchase, you are able to purchase a replica tile containing text and artwork for $20 (which will go to you, not the shelter!). You can securely purchase a brick online or use the form found here (PDF).
You can see our sample 4×8 brick pictured above, or in person at any of our fundraisers (real bricks will not have the company name printed on it). If you have any questions, please contact us at email@example.com! You can also support the building efforts by making a secure donation below! All donations are tax-deductible as we are a 501(c)3.
As always, we would like to thank this amazing community for supporting us through the years! We’re doing our best to grow, so we can serve YOU better!!
And because we can’t say it enough, thank you.
