We believe that every dog deserves a loving home!
Some of the dogs which end up in our care were never in loving homes. We wanted to share a few rescue stories with you, so that you may realize that there is a need for what we do, and you can meet a few of the wonderful dogs that we are here for. Some of the images may be disturbing.
Wishbone was found abandoned in an apartment with nothing to eat but garbage and nothing to drink but puddles. Had the neighbors not reported poor Wishbone who knows what would have happened to him. Here are before and after photos to show everyone how well he is doing now and how far he has come! After months of waiting for the right family, Wishy went to his forever home in April of 2014!!!! Congratulations Wishy!!! A big thank-you to Jessica Painter Photography for the after photos!
Animal Control found Cramer wandering the streets, so they picked him up and brought him to the vets. Cramer was diagnosed with sarcoptic mange, which is highly contagious between dogs, and to humans as well. Due to his condition, the high chance of secondary infection and the high cost of treatment, the vet recommended euthanasia. Cramer came to Regional for his second option. He needed injections of Ivermectin and medicated baths every other day, and lots of love from the shelter volunteers. Within 2 months he was mange free, healthy and ready for adoption! He found his forever home soon after he was deemed mange-free! Congrats Cramer, and enjoy your second chance!
Chum Lee is a malamute/husky mix that came to Regional in very bad shape. He was emaciated, had quills in his face and mouth and had been on the run for a very long time. He needed a ton of vet care for infections and he was so fearful it took weeks to be able to pet him. We got him healthy, and he soon found his forever home! He still requires a lot of medical care but his family loves him very much!
