Adopting from Regional Animal Shelter is an easy process which will help you find the dog that is perfect for you and your family. It involves finding out a little about you and your home, visiting with the dogs and talking with one of the animal shelter professionals. After you have met and decided which amazing animal you would like to adopt, we will ask that you fill out an application. Applications are available at the shelter; they must be completed in full and returned to the shelter office. If you are unable to make it to the shelter, please contact us and we will send you an application.
From there you can expect:.
- You will be called for an interview and a home visit will be scheduled at that time.
- If you currently own other pets you will also need to schedule a meet and greet between the animals. This will ensure that your family members will all get along with your new addition and can be done at the shelter if preferred.
- You must have proof of vaccination before your dog can be let into the shelter’s yard or if we meet at your home and/or at a neutral location.
The animal adoption fee is $195 for dogs. The animal adoption fee includes the spay/neuter, microchipping, heart worm testing, Rabies vaccination, 5-in-1 vaccination (against canine distemper, canine hepatitis, adenovirus cough (kennel cough), parainfluenza, and parvovirus), Lyme vaccination, nail trim and flea treatment (if necessary). Payment can be made by cash or check only and is due prior to or at the time of adoption.

Bobo has not had an easy life so far at only a year old. He has been bounced from one unstable home to another. He is with us at the shelter now and we will be sure that never happens again. He previously lived with several kids and another dog. He is very sweet and really wants to be with people. We are working on getting him up to a healthy weight. He needs some leash manners but he's never had anyone teach him until now. Please stop in to meet this super sweet boy!

This is a courtesy listing. Hazel is not located at the shelter. Please read the description for contact information.
Hazel is a 3 1/2 year old Boxer/Pittie Female who is very playful and energetic. She weighs about 60# and is spayed, heartworm negative, fully vetted and very healthy. She loves walks, car rides and rides very quietly and nicely, playing with her toys and bones and gives lots of kisses. She loves her humans and kids alike and also loves to cuddle and will sleep along side of you if you let her. She doesn't bark much, is crate trained and loves her treats. She can be crated up to 8 hours if needed.
She doesn't do well with other dogs, as she was never socialized as a puppy (I have been told), she is very strong and walks best with her prong collar or harness, she growls when she is approached when eating her food or treats, but has never bitten anyone, she does jump and give kisses until she calms down and she would do best to be taken outside to pee as soon as she is let out of her crate, as the excitement of being let out can occasionally cause her to pee if there is a delay in getting her outside timely.
Hazel's nickname is Chubby, and although she isn't overweight, it seems to fit her. She is great at "doing her business" outside, and will either come right back in or walk further. She knows basic commands such as sit, do good girl, paw, down, up and look.
Due to her main caregiver moving out to attend college, she is now in need of a loving home, with no other dogs or cats and preferably with children or an active human/s who can keep her exercised and motivated. She has a sensitive stomach, but has no special dietary requirements, except we feed her a low/no grain food. ("Exceed" from Sam's Club) and treats now and then, nothing else. She would be a good addition for a fun, loving and semi-active household.

Lucky was brought to the shelter after it was discovered that his owner passed away. He is 6 years old and full of energy! He loves to play ball and run in the yard. He does need to be the only dog and would love a home without young children and commotion. Please give Lucky another chance at a forever home, we know he must be so lonely!

Charlie is a sweet boy with a long history. He is neutered and microchipped and has all his shots. He is an absolute sweetheart! Charlie needed some help getting over all that he was fearful of in the world so he is at a Board and Train Program at Paw It Forward LLC. Charlie is doing remarkably well and has learned to overcome many of his fears. Charlie would do well if matched with the right dog. He loves the outdoors and to go on long walks and even likes to take a swim in the water! Because Charlie is off site, please contact the shelter to schedule a time to meet him at the trainers facility. You will fall in love at first sight!!

Say hello to Zeke. Zeke was beaten severely as a puppy and it caused him to become unsure of new situations or people. He has completed rehab training at Natural Dog Training in Vermont. He has learned to trust humans again and learned to process stress. We are looking for a family that is willing to continue with his training while at home and will keep him safe. We are working in conjunction with Paw It Forward LLC and Kevin Behan of NDT to ensure that Zeke will have the home he deserves. We promised Zeke no one would ever hurt him again! Please consider opening your home to our boy Zeke.
Zeke is current on all shots and is neutered, housebroken, and micro-chipped.

Sweet Jay was given up by his owner because he was unable to provide the veterinary care this senior boy needed. Jay is approximately 11 years old and had never seen a vet. After a thorough exam by our vet it was discovered that Jay has cancer. We opted not to have any biopsies done due to his age and allow Jay to live out his life happily and comfortably. Jay is an absolute sweetheart and although his diagnosis by the vet isn't positive, Jay doesn't have any idea anything is wrong! He loves to go for walks and is happy just hanging out with people. He is definitely a food hound and never refuses a meal or snack. We realize that adopting or fostering Jay may not be a long term commitment but we know that there is someone out there that is willing to show him love and allow him to live out his life with dignity and love. Please consider opening your heart and home to this sweet old boy. No dog should get dumped just because of its age!
